“When I saw how Essence was made, especially the fact that they are completely enclosed, I knew it was restaurant-proof—no food, no grease, and no airborne particles will get into those fans.”
LEED AP Interior Designer, BDG Architects
Wow! That’s Fresh wanted to emphasize fresh food and clean design in their flagship restaurant in Brandon, Florida. Searching for bold lines and customized materials, LEED accredited designer Kim Perry looked to the team of applications engineers and designers at Big Ass Fans to lift the restaurant’s eye-catching colors onto its all-white ceiling. Together they developed a series of renderings showing custom color options and fan sizes to maximize air flow and elevate the design of the 4,300-square-foot restaurant.
Perry chose four eight-foot Essence® fans with custom red winglets, which feature a winning combination of streamlined aesthetics and what she described as “solid, can’t possibly screw-it-up engineering.” As a LEED accredited designer, Perry appreciated more than just the customized design of the fan—she also loved the reduced energy costs, silence and industrial-grade engineering.
Perry saw that engineering firsthand when she attended a continuing education symposium and toured Big Ass Fans’ Kentucky-based production facilities in 2014. “When I saw how the Essence was made, especially the fact that they are completely enclosed, I knew it was restaurant-proof—no food, no grease, and no airborne particles will get into those fans,” Perry said. “It’s the perfect ventilation solution for a restaurant known for making fresh burgers and fries.”
